PWOP’s Story

While Albert Garney, CPO, founder of Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics,  was working as the clinic manager for orthotics and prosthetics, at Georgetown University Hospital for the Limb Salvage team of Dr. Christopher Attinger and Dr. Paul Cooper, He came aware of the difficulties patients were having in Prince William County trying to obtain orthotic and prosthetic devices.  Since he lived in the county and he was aware of all the orthotic and prosthetic providers in the DC Metro area, He knew there were no providers that had a facility for this community.  I approached the orthopedic department at Prince William Hospital to discuss the matter and found that they too were having difficulties referring patients to orthotic and prosthetic providers because there was none in the county.  Within a 30 minute meeting, Prince William Hospital and their orthopedic department were endorsing Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics to open a comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic facility in their surgery center.

Since we opened in November of 2007, we accept most of the major insurance carriers. Our greatest amounts of referrals come from the physicians at Prince William Hospital and Potomac Hospital but our network of referring physicians are constantly growing.  Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetic is the only orthotic and prosthetic facility in Prince William County but service the entire Northern Virginia area.  We are accredited with the American Board of Certification for Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) and are active members of the Virginia Orthotics and Prosthetic Association (VOPA).

Knowledgeable staff - Across Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics, LLC professionals, there is 60+ years of experience. This means Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics, LLC has the experience to find the best product solution for clients in need of orthotic and prosthetic services.  Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics, LLC are able to be the expert solutions provider when you and/or your patient have an in-depth question about products.

Rare prosthetics knowledge – The prosthetics knowledge that Albert Garney has is in-depth and hands-on. Since it takes years of education and work experience to obtain those skills, it is a unique strength that cannot easily be copied.  Albert Garney’s training began with Otto Bock HealthCare, a leader in the orthotic and prosthetic industry. Even after his departure from Otto Bock into patient care, Mr. Garney still works closely with product roll out and up-to-date training from Otto Bock and other manufacturers in the industry.   According to the Regional Account Manager for Otto Bock, Albert Garney and Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics are the largest distributor of the Otto Bock Harmony system in the Northern Virginia Market.

Unique pediatric care – I would estimate, 30% of our patient care is children with orthotic and prosthetic needs.  Both Mark Smith, CPOA  and Albert Garney, CPO have come from a profound background of pediatric care having worked with Orthotic Prosthetic Center, Nascott Rehabilitation Services, and Orthotic Solutions.  We work extremely close with the Early Intervention Program of Prince William County as well the physical and occupational therapist with The Prince William County School System.

Friendly staff - The staff servicing patients at Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics, LLC are friendly and down-to-earth. Our ability to collaborate and be functional also translates to a positive experience for our patients. Our satisfaction rating amongst patients is 96% vs. 91% against other orthotic and prosthetic providers.  * Survey results are calculated by Quality Outcomes, an independent surveying firm.

In-house fabrication – The fact that Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics, LLC has such knowledgeable staff working in the lab is a considerable advantage for clients. Prescription criteria and device specification do not get mishandled because we do not send out patient projects to central fabricators.   This knowledge and experience base means more accurately orthotic and prosthetic fittings and in less time.  In this industry, quality is the most important factor, by providing in house fabrication quality of the orthotic and prosthetic devices are in our control and not a central fabricator.  The clinical staff at Prince William Orthotics and Prosthetics, LLC, personally supervises each project from evaluation, to design concept, to mold modifications and finally to the finished product.
